Clarity in a Leaf
There are more—far more—ideas hidden in a single leaf than in the next NotionAI update or the latest Obsidian Bases walkthrough.
You don’t really find ideas. Ideas find you when you stop scrolling and start noticing. The tree in your backyard has more to say than yesterday’s Notion tutorial.
It’s not the tool. Let me repeat that: it’s not the tool you need.
What you’re looking for is clarity. And clarity doesn’t live in a dashboard. Clarity lives in a leaf.
The Library in a Leaf
Every leaf is a little design project. Veins running like highways, edges cut with precision, light spilling through thin green skin. There’s wisdom there if you pause long enough.
A word for your life.
An idea for your business.
A spark for someone you love.
Clarity isn’t about adding more dashboards or tools. It’s about seeing what’s already in front of you.
The leaf is a library. The ordinary is extraordinary when you give it your attention.
Solomon’s Footsteps
Solomon once said, “Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise” (Proverbs 6:6).
The word consider has layers in Hebrew:
To see with perception – not a passive glance, but noticing with insight.
To look intently / inspect – studying, pondering, taking time.
To discern / understand – to “see with the mind,” to recognize what’s really going on.
So in this verse, consider her ways isn’t “oh neat, there’s an ant.” It’s more like:
Fix your attention on the ant’s habits until you discern wisdom from them.
Think of it: if the wisest man in the world said we could learn by paying close attention to ants, surely we can learn something by paying close attention to a leaf. Following in Solomon’s footsteps means letting creation become a classroom.
Shepherd’s Pause
Next time you’re outside, pick up a leaf. Sit with it for two minutes. Notice the veins, the patterns, the colors. Let curiosity lead. Find one thing to learn more about that leaf. Follow the trail and allow that knowledge to overflow into your life.
P.S. If you’re craving that kind of clarity — the kind that doesn’t come from dashboards but from slowing down and paying attention — you might love a Lantern Session. It’s a one-hour coaching call where we shine light on your tangled thoughts and help you find the next step forward.
