The last few years I’ve been experimenting with a different way of capturing thoughts—one that doesn’t involve sitting at my desk or staring at a notes app.
I love this idea! I've noticed that when I want to think through an idea, I start with creating images first since it helps me get my brain unstuck. I will be adding this exercise to my creative toolbox :)
The process of adding visuals to a canvas and moving stuff around, helps trigger my "focus" and "sorting" mental functions. Still in early stages of experimenting with writing that way, but currently my process looks like
1. Building simple images then
2. Sequencing the images into a story, then finally
I totally agree, writing and photography are close cousins (if not siblings). I’m actually expanding on a photography website with more writing. But limiting the writing to only brief descriptions of nuances.

Nice. I’ve experimented with creating images. It’s a way of distilling and refining an idea. What does your process look like when creating images?

“Writing and photography are close cousins” I like that!
This is great. I’m always taking pictures but with no real intentionality. I’m going to try this.
Let me know how it goes man!
